Elementary schooler’s e-mails amuse parents
Olivia has her own e-mail account now. We let her have it near the end of her fourth grade year.
One day, before the kids took an all-day field trip to Polynesian Cultural Center, she wrote this to me from school:
Time: 8:25 a.m.
omg PCC is soo awesome i really wanna leave but its 8;25 am but when u get dis ill be there were taking the star reading test now and i got most questions correct!
I think it’s adorable and I mentioned it to Claus that evening on our dinner date. The kids had – no kidding – a 13 hour field trip that went until 10 p.m. We had no idea what to do with ourselves without the usual family routine. Funny!
I said, “Olivia e-mailed me this morning about some test and her field trip. It was cute.”
He said, “Oh! I was waiting to hear about this. Because she wrote me after she wrote to you and said to ask you about it. I was wondering if she got in trouble or what.”
His e-mail from her reads:
Time: 8:33 a.m.
so dad get more info from mom and have a ☺ day
It’s silly. It’s funny. I can’t believe he admitted to sitting in suspense all day but was patient enough to wait until I brought it up.
We are so different. I’d be texting his butt at 8:45 a.m. instead of waiting until ten hours later at dinner.
I love getting e-mails from my daughter in the day!
